Don't Fall From Grace

I have read the Psalm before
But I saw it quiet differently
Several versions gave clearer meaning 
Which forced meditation and prayers

Psalm 89 is about King David
Though he's not the author 
It's about the Lord's choice of a nobody 
The help he obtained though he was undesired...

He came from one of the worst place ever
To the top of the dynasty 
With promises of his unending relevance 
His name will endure forever; God will see to it

Talk of safety, greatness, fame, victory, relevance...
It's a long read of enviable promises 
Then suddenly the words changed 
God will walk away from this wow blessings 

The Lord will not do as he promised 
The psalmist wants Gods anger to subside
And I wanted to know what went wrong...
What was responsible for this fallout?

Was the bridge ever mended?
This were some of my thoughts; then my prayer 
May I not fall from Grace.

Too Early, Too Late

When Mary was told you have been favored 
She didn't expect it to be pregnancy outside wedlock 
It looked more like a burden 
It seems like a forced load

God could have waited just for few more months...
He could have hastened their marriage plans...
After all; she was already engaged to be married

Then gift them Jesus in Holy Matrimony

Having  a son nine months after 
Will come with joyful celebration 

Jesus himself will have a soft landing
But this so called blessing will come with shame

She will have to endure questioning stares

She will have to explain an impossible situation 
She will be disengaged from her would be spouse
So much for the blessings of God that adds no sorrow 

Zachariah, Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph
Had an intertwined destiny 
Elizabeth's pregnancy in old age is the trigger
But in all; God will bring His Will in His time

So at the appointment seasons 
Zechariahs unbelief couldn't stop the momentum 
Mary unmarried status won't be a barrier 

John the Baptist and Jesus must be born

What has been written must stand

If it's in your destiny it will come to pass
However you may have to wait it out like the Zechariah's 
Or have it earlier like Mary and Joseph

And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28    …Tejuwrite…

To Be Seen 2

What is happening in Lodebar...
That town doesn't get to be in the news often...
But on this day the kings’ heralds were in town... 
Mephiboseth was the man they sought...
 
He had been born a prince
Life happened and his royal garment got shredded 
Lodebar was the only location affordable 
A town of bareness, a place where nothing grows
 
This was his new address
Cut off from the beauty of the palace
Taken away from mingling with the creams
This became the fate of a Kings grandson
 
To make his shame more obvious
He was lame on both legs
And lacked the help of attendant slaves
I often allow my imagination paint me a picture
 
What I see of him is pathetic
He may fare better if no one knew his ancestry

At least he will avoid the goggling stares
A fall from grace, by no fault of his
 
Away from all that was familiar
Disinherited from all that could have been his
Living out his days in horrid reality
Yet; the seeing God was on his case…
 
Jehovah El Roi will cause David to remember…
Mephibosheth was to be searched out
He was to be returned to the palace
He will once again seat amongst princes

Get God to see you

Pray, fast do whatever it requires

Hagar, Mephibosheth had pleasant turn arounds

Don't end in Lodebar or keep wandering in a desert

To Be Seen

He is known by several beautiful names
Yet Hagar will give another; El Roi
A Hebrew name meaning The God who sees me
What a name from a most unexpected person

Everyone has a story, Hagar's side is not often heard
She grew and at some point became a slave 
Then she will be used as a mistress 
Bait for children for her madam

Don't blame her if ambition kicked in
And she will want to be more than just a slave
After all they gave her the taste of the pudding
She also desire the finer things of life...

She won't have her wishes; she was shown the door
She was sent out with her son into uncertainty 
Few food and supplies for a desert journey 
What really were their chances of surviving?

Starvation is their imminent end 

Ishmael wont stop crying for the food she cant provide

His cries ripped her soul apart
So she set her child apart so not to witness his death

El Roi will be true to His promise

The seed of Abraham is snatched from death

She has been seen by the One who can help
The One who’s mindful of them

I want to be seen and helped by the one who’s got me

To be embraced by the One who controls the Universe

The One who knows what every sigh means
Who can wipe my tears and give me a pleasant beginning

It is Well

It is well is hardly the statement of a bereaved...
What is obtainable is cries and wailings...
But she will keep a calm posture...
In the face of a the death of an only son.

She married early but there were no kids...
She will devote her time into other ventures...
She was benevolent and discerning...
When Elisha will enter her life she knew what to do.

Her good deeds will prompt the man to bless her..
The son arrived in her old age...
And suddenly he died in his prime...
Yet she could say it is well.

Adversity cant be wished away...
Sometimes the weather is not friendly...
The popular song; it is well with my soul...
Came from an unimaginable loss...

A grieving father will encourage millions…
A timeless piece from a place of profound sorrow...
He kept his eyes on Jesus his anchor...
He found solace in his faith in Him

Believers! Believe in your Lord keep your gaze on Him
He is the one that can see us through a storm
Let His word in; He will not leave or forsake...
We will need His counsel to displace the undesired

When peace like a river, attends my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, You have taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Mustard Big

Is there anything hard for God?
The common answer is nothing 
Should anything be hard for Gods children?
The honest answer is several things seem defiant

You can move mountain if you have faith...

Faith as small as the mustard seed...

This little can bring so mush...

Yet why so little proofs...

Persistence continued prayers...

Positive confessions in spite of contrary evidence… 
Obedience even when it doesn't make sense…

These are the difficult things to do

This are reasons why issues remain same
A mustard seed size of faith can move mountain
How do I know if my professed faith is sufficient?
What makes for this size of faith?

You determine if your faith will work
God doesn't lie, we can agree to 

You need to grow your trust size in God

This you will achieve by diligent study of scripture

Faith sees inner convictions

Faith knows the end from the beginning

Faith always win; Faith acts and speaks as God 

Faith is unshakable as God; Faith endures till the end

This is the faith of the mustard size
Never doubting, always trusting
Able to believe; doesn't critic or analyze 
It simply trusts the one who says

In the annals of faith, will your name be written

Will you taste and proof the God who never fails

For truly I say to you, if you have faith as much as is a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it shall move. Matthew 17:20

A Hundred Thousand...

A 100,000 sheep and wool from a 100,000 rams…
Is what a nation pays yearly to another nation
To achieve this target; many workers will be enrolled
This job they will do with little or no wage

King Mesha at some point couldn’t take this anymore
He can’t continue to build for another to inhabit
So he raised an army to fight off the task master
He was willing to do anything for freedom

When he noticed he will lose the battle…
(His opponent had the support of three nations)
He sacrificed his heir; The one to rule after him
This is the extent he will go for victory 2 Kings chapter 3

There are some journey one must discontinue...
Trips that have no clear cut destination...
Going round in an unpleasant circle...
Sweating hard with nothing to show for effort...

Continued impoverishing by the same enemy...
Paying off a debt that’s never reducing...
Like Mesha its time to spit out the bitter pill
It’s time to end this torturous season

Jesus is our go to; the sure plug for victory
Is there an area of bitterness? don’t watch what you detest
Notice that until the King arose; nothing changed
The enemy never wants to lose any

I must not continue like this; there must be an out
End the unpleasant situation; Get up, give it your all 
Refuse to accept the slightest hint of bondage
Jesus triumph is our victory chant 

He was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace... Isiah 53:5

Servant Help

He was an army general; but leprous…
He was a husband; but leprous…
He was probably a father; but was leprous…
He was well known; but leprous…
 

In plain language he was a leper
And lepers don’t get to become army chief
I doubt the possibility of marriage to a non-leper
But he seem to overcome the limits of his disability

However, no matter how prosperous he becomes
Leprosy seem to douse his accomplishments
He must have tried all possible to get better
Help will come; but not the way expected…

She was a servant girl who served Naaman's wife
She must have distinguished herself 
So when she advised to visit Elisha it was obeyed
What if the slave girl had been with them earlier?

The people I need Lord send them early
The sooner I get the helper of destiny the better
A common prayer with me is speed
The Lord is not slow concerning His promise

When he got to Elisha he expected better treatment
At least a welcome based on his pedigree
But the instruction came behind the door
And it was to go bathe in a dirty river seven times

He wanted to turn back in anger
Thankfully another servant spurred him on
He kept his gaze on what he sought
Not on the shame or inconvenience attached

We all need these precious helpers
They may not have big titles, be educated or exposed
They probably are within your reach

I pray you identify and heed their counsel

My Choice

I notice one of man’s undoing is disobedience
From the very beginning the problem crept in...
And it seems to still be a struggle 
The ways of God are plain enough

Chose a side He announces

He then state the consequence of each
Adam knew why he shouldn’t eat from the tree
He disobeyed and got sent out of Eden

Despite how often Moses spoke about God to Israel
They walked often in unbelief and disobedience
Milk and Honey was the offing...
Obey and serve the Lord was the condition

Yet, very few accessed this good blessing from the Lord

This so called simple obedience; is not as simple

Its amazing how we humans can be

Lets note...God does not respect any man

By following His instructions

We will arrive at our destinations

Man simply has issues with Gods time

So to set things off; we walk contrary to His commands

How many have ended in a wrong marriage...

How many have relocated in error

How many have rebuffed this simple instruction...

In all your ways acknowledge Him and let Him guide you

I have heard enough tales of mans disobedience

I have seen it spill out to innocent families

My appeal is so simple... Trust and obey God

Men in Sizes

He just wanted a glimpse of the Messiah 
But his limited height prevented him
So he ran ahead and climbed a tree
Knowing Jesus will pass the very route 

He never knew his day will get better

As Jesus got to the tree he stopped and looked up
Zacchaeus just had his desire fulfilled 
But surprisingly he heard his name called 

He did what no one did and got recognized
While his size prevented him to see
He choose not to give in to his disability 
He did what could help his course 

What can I do to attract God's attention?

Knowing just a gaze from Him can sort me out
Solomon will give a thousand offering
Bartimaeus won't stop shouting for mercy

Hannah will not give up praying
Jacob will duel with God till a name change 
I am tired of the valley you say 
Yet you lament only, you complain perhaps

I want my own babies
Yet you haven't done what Hannah did 
If God is the only alternative 
It's better you read Luke 18...

The woman that kept disturbing the unjust judge
If prayer is the only route
I advise you separate yourself and pray
Efforts is required 

If Zacchaeus stayed back I won't have a tale to narrate 
You will get a royal visit 
The Lord will pick you out for glory

Seeking Help

A widow will lose her two sons…
Because the late husband left them in debt
She reached out to Elisha and quickly help came.
How come the husband never thought to do same…

Especially working so close with the prophet 2Kings 4:1
He could easily have accessed the anointed
Rather; he chose to patronize loan sharks…
If not for divine assistance, his boys will end up as slaves

Many things go on in a marriage 
But its better if we learn to walk as one
The woman’s choice of seeking help
Is clearly different from the path the man chose

My mind roams to Peter who needed to pay taxes
He approached Jesus who guided him to a miracle
The woman with the issue of blood
Will not joke with close proximity

While others thronged for views or what else
She moved in with deliberateness
She had her answers; 12 years burden vanished
I can’t be close to fire and keep complaining of cold

I can’t be a child of God and live in bondage
I can’t be a child of God and lack daily needs
I can’t keep starring at ashes that can be made beautiful
Let’s embrace our advantage as believers

Closely he observed Elisha perform divers miracle

He watched as several people receive help 

He chose to be silent about his own challenges

He died a righteous but broke prophet

Our privileges' as Christians gives us a right of access

We don't need an intermediary to access God

But if we chose the path of this prophet

We will likely get his exact results...

No Gifts

If I'm asked what I need; I will bring out a long list…
Elisha wanting to return a favor, asked same of a woman
I have no need... she responded... 
He then went ahead to fill in the gaps...

Do I speak to the king for you? No she responded 

Or speak to the Army chief? Don’t bother she replied
Elisha prodded further from Gehazi his servant... 
What can I do to help her?

She has no son, was His swift answer…

To a barren woman, the cry of a child should be loud 
Especially if the call is from a Prophet like Elisha
I pondered on this a while...
  

What will make any woman say no to blessings?
Could it be because of past hurt or experiences...

Her present age or her spouse perhaps...
I then asked myself'; can I say no in a similar situation
 
As I reflected on this... it became clearer...
God can do all things is a known fact; but not this...

There are certain things we have accepted as fate

We choose an unpleasant statuesque rather than aim high

Like her; we have become comfortable with some issues...

Bring out the ashes, let it be replaced with beauty

It’s a good time to embrace Gods help...

Especially in areas we have tagged impossible

I will rather keep pushing for a needed change

Than accept an unpleasing fate

I see God intervening, but I pray you to believe again
However, let your good deeds speak for you

Price Paid

Everything we get in the kingdom has a price 
Nothing is handed down cheaply
We get it by faith, we sustain it by faith
There's no free meal. The Messiah paid...

Salvation was sorted by the painful death of Jesus
We got it free, but it cost dearly
Healing was ours because of the stripes he took
Blessings was our lot because he became a curse

Our riches is because he took over our poverty
All the benefits I enjoy, has a price tag
Name it, there's a specific price paid
Imagine winning a free shopping voucher

You may pick the goods off the shelf free of charge
But believe, someone paid for the items
Our expected response should be gratitude
It makes a kind gesture worthwhile

He wants to see us enjoy our goodies

Jesus will want us live in health

Our prosperity and peace will delight Him

Definitely a victorious life is what He expects of us

He also want to be appreciated

A little acknowledgment is due to Him 

This will make His day; it will satisfy Him...
For the gift received freely, return with thanks

But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. 

He was beaten that we might have peace. 

He was whipped, and we were healed! Isaiah 53:5 

What's good this Friday?

TGIF; the weekend starts on Friday
The day seeps of relaxation
Bars and entries start gearing up for more patronage
You get to leave some stuff pending till Monday
 
For Jesus this Friday was loaded with pains
Betrayal, rejection, shame, death...
This were the lineup for him
Yet we call the day good Friday
 
Was it the hurt from close allies?
Or the beatings that tore his skin...
Is it the insults and look of disdain...
Or the feel of the nail pounding on his hands and feet
 
He was dehumanized in every sense
Yet we say it's Good Friday
Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice...
May the memory of today keep filling you with joy
 
He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be filled with horror and deep distress. He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me.

Thank God truly for Friday
Thank God we get to benefit from Jesus pain
Thank God we get to enjoy liberty

I Want it Like This

God truly has a sense of humor
In the book of Numbers Chapters 13 and 14
God gave instructions on spying the land of promise...

The Israelites disbelieved and God was very angry
 
In chapter 15 there seem to be a swift change

From His fierce anger in the previous
God is here giving instruction on offerings
This sudden shift I find amusing...
 
"When you present a young bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice in fulfillment of a special vow or as a peace offering to the Lord, then the grain offering accompanying it must include five quarts of choice flour mixed with two quarts of olive oil, plus two quarts of wine for the drink offering. This will be an offering made by fire, very pleasing to the Lord. Numbers 15:8-10
 
Wow, this is a meal spread
Consisting of meat, baked goods and wine
This is a choice but affordable banquet
And He added this will be well pleasing to Me
 
It's like ordering a meal and getting served accordingly
Well garnished and with some sweet wine...

A common saying... God doesn't eat our food

But He is specifying here what He wants and how

His command is clear; offer me the best
He will not accept just anything; 

We must be intentional in giving to The Lord

Not our standard but His

 

One may argue it's for them not now…
Throughout the generations to come, you are to present this 

offering to the Lord each year from the first of your ground flour. 

Numbers 15:21 Read further; Mark 12: 41...
 
God wants what He wants
Follow His instructions to the later
Get better understanding and comply
Honor must be communicated in your gifts to Him 

My Garden

I have a very small garden I situated near a water source
I planted lots of edible and medicinal plants
This small space seems to teach varying lessons
From the import of owning a piece of God's earth
 
To the economics and benefits of fresh veggies
Recently my hubby planted 2 tubers of yam
They have reached the stage of applying a stick to support
And he kept ignoring for whatever reason
 
I just woke to see them curl around each other
Their tiny frame sought each other out
Rather than continue alone
They sought each other out for support
 
Two is indeed better than one
Don't lone with your struggle
Reach out to a friend
I have seen this approach help me often
 
My next lesson is more of a challenge…
My 5 year old recently demanded
Mummy; give me the seed of the apple you just ate
He had planted his and now wants mine...
 
How do I tell him that this apple tree is not in view...?
For now I leave him with his believes...

Big garden or small, it entails work
I can't ignore horse dung; its nutrition for my plants
 
And where did the weeds come from?
They are so persistent
This enemy wanting to override my harvest
I am the weapon that will not make them survive
 
My earth; my garden
For me to enjoy as long as I desire

One Day

Suddenly; I looked up to the sky
I had been outside praying just past midnight
Then I became speechless
Still couldn’t take my gaze off the heavens
 
I felt drawn to its vastness
No word is adequate to describe the awesome
A combination of beauty and mystery
What lies behind the cloud?
 
My thought roamed to Jesus
He ascended into the heavens
This was no fluke, the disciples were witness
And one day we shall have that privilege
 
As I kept gazing
I marveled at the Great God of creation
I considered His effortless might
His love, kindness and all-round good
 
I wondered if I deserved His help I have received
I regarded the prayers I just said
I compared my requests to the great expanse of the heavens
I believe I got my answers. It’s done
 
I don't want to miss the lift up
What wants to keep me away?
Sin no way.
I suddenly felt weak on my knees
 
As I saw myself bow low in adoration
Great Good God; yet mindful of small me
Indeed your world is a wonder
And you are the greatest builder
